24 Hours without Technology

End.

I never realized how dependent I was on my cellphone, e-mail, aim, and facebook until I was forced to be without it for 24 hours. I am only dependent on it to mostly waste time. I accomplished so much when I was unable to just text my friends for no real reason. Cell phones are a huge part in our society and almost everyone uses them. I found it difficult to go without technology but I also found it helpful. I am going to try to cut back with my cell phone in hopes to get more things done and not waste so much time. Facebook and aim were not really hard to give up for a day. I didn't feel I was disconnected with anyone because I wasn't on facebook. The hardest thing to give up other than my phone was probably music. I run everyday and to not listen to my ipod while I am running is very hard for me. I'm so used to having music playing so without it, I found myself not motivated to run anymore. Our generation truly depends on technology and I believe it is only going to get worse as we make more technological advances.
It was a good experiment to go 24 hours without the technology we view as necessities. Cell phones are definitely needed but not to the extreme that our generation takes it. Not bringing my cell phone to my classes was helpful because I couldn't check the time often unless there was a clock in the classroom. Not knowing the time just allowed me to focus in the present and not worry about how long a class is. This was an experience that was tough but it showed how dependent our generation is on technology.
